ISSUE SEVEN
ISSUE SEVEN
The seventh issue of the Hope Valley Journal looks at our sense of place – our relationship with the landscape around us. We profile our wonderful cover artist, Brian Nolan, the Hayfield painter with the moors and edges of the High Peak in his blood. We speak to anthropologist/photographer Richard Avery about exploring his own sense of place during lockdown. There’s an underground special, delving beneath the Hope Valley to discover passageways, caves and semi-precious stones, and we meet four amazing female photographers doing their bit to challenge the male-dominated world of landscape photography. Then there’s sheep poems, Charlotte Brontë, winter weather, the Snake Pass and much, much more besides.
